Alessa Lanot

Promoter of Creativity and Craftsmanship

In this humdrum, fast-paced world, it can be a challenge to add art into people’s lives. Alessa Lanot does just this: encouraging people to express themselves and providing them with space and tools to add creativity to their daily lives even if they’re not professional artists.

Inclined towards the arts, Alessa started her creative lifestyle blog and brand lifeafterbreakfast eight years ago to encourage everyone to make time for creativity. When she graduated from high school, she started a mobile arts and crafts workshop for children, and then transitioned to teaching arts and crafts to adults. She then began creating watercolors and art tools and selling them at Common Room, a local craft store. With a background in graphic design, she also began work as a surface pattern designer in 2011.

Now, Alessa is headed for greater community building, taking her blog and her craft even further to encourage and promote creativity in everyone she encounters.

She’s never felt disempowered to do anything, and that can be attributed equally to her fearless passion, and to her faithful support system. It’s her family and friends who are her first supporters in all her endeavors and her husband P.J. who is her source of inspiration. Alessa believes in fostering real relationships, both for herself and others: her work and her craft are geared towards bringing what’s online to real life, and the workshops she hosts are meant to bring people together.

Now, Alessa is headed for greater community building, taking her blog and her craft even further to encourage and promote creativity in everyone she encounters. She also wants to encourage people to have confidence, in their purpose and in themselves. She knows the best way to start changing the world is to say something. “If you want to change something, you need to start it yourself.”
